TABLE TOP VERSION - COMPONENTS The table top version of "Randy Butt - RIP" is a specially written version of the full party game that can be played by 5 to 9 players. All players will be allocated to one of five teams (Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D, Team E). Each team will therefore either have one or two members. Each team is responsible for voicing the parts of certain characters. Namely:
♦
Team A will be voicing Ben Bulge Rather than have to listen for cues before revealing information, each item in a round is numbered. Items are performed in numerical order by the appropriate character. For instance the table top at the beginning of Round 1 will look as follows:
So Team C would start things off with Philip Starr asking a question (1). Luke O'Shay answers from his Suspect Card (2). This causes Mikey McDowell to give a response (3). His statement forces Drew Anderson to give a comment (4), which in turn generates a response from Sir Compton Clarke (5). And so on through to Mikey concluding the round (38). By this time all three Round 1 Clues in the centre of the table will have been turned over. A round flowchart is provided, allowing the party host to keep track of who is to speak at each point. The Ben Bulge Character Booklet contains the instructions for laying out the components for each round, has a summary to be read aloud at the end of each round, and also contains the denouement speech with which the killer is unmasked. The two sides of Philip Starr's Round 1 Suspect Character Card are shown below, so you can see how the numbers on the back of each card correspond with the statements to be read aloud on the front.
After Round 4 each character has a "Protest of Innocence" to read aloud. Then it is time for everyone to decide who committed the murder before Ben Bulge reveals all in a dramatic denouement speech. Finally the player who has been voicing the murderer will read aloud the confession, explaining fully why they committed their crime. The game should take about three hours to play. ©2010 - Tim Morrell |
