Trecherus Brutus was a handsome man with a good opinion of himself. Like General Sadisticus Masochismus, he had worked his way up through to the army to become one of Lustrous Caesar's most trusted generals. However some time ago his career suffered a set back. Trecherus was selected to put down an army of slaves under the leadership of the slave rebel Spurtacus. Unfortunately Spurtacus's men proved too much for Trecherus's troops and Trecherus became the laughing stock of Rome. It wasn't until his fourth attempt that Trecherus was able to subdue the rebellion. His harsh treatment of the rebels made him infamous throughout Rome. As part of the spoils of combat, Trecherus claimed Spurtacus's woman Varinia, and took her into his home. Roman gossip declared that he was infatuated with her.
Trecherus had recently been sent to
Egypt so that he could escort
Queen Cleopatra
to Rome for her peace visit. |
