You are Max Dettweiler, aged 53, a “musical agent” . You have represented many talented singers, arranging bookings across Europe and touring alongside them. This has led you into the company of many rich people, and you are an accomplished “sponge”. They cannot resist your charming manners and malicious wit. You like rich people. You like the way they live. And you like the way you live when you are with them!

You are a friend of both Captain Van Tripp and Baroness Shredder. You introduced the pair to each other, acted as their chaperon during their courtship, and were best man at their wedding.
