THE DIAMOND COURT CARDS
When playing cards were introduced into fifteenth
century France, diamonds were said to represent the middle classes.
Associated with wealth, position and material gain, they are symbolised in
the tarot pack by coins. With leanings towards being smug and
self-righteous, could one of the diamonds have decided it was to their
advantage to despatch the King of Hearts to the big card room in the sky? |
