(Give a huge and prolonged yawn.) I am Pandiculus Slumber, aged 47, Governor of the Sinnalot Islands. I represent the sin of sloth. I have recently been appointed by the British Admiralty to keep the waters around the islands clear of pirates. They would particularly like me to apprehend the notorious gentleman pirate “Rapacious Rupert”. Unfortunately my attempts to apprehend Rupert have been so lethargic that the Admiralty have sent the zealous Commodore Sanctimonious Goode, their top pirate catcher, to assist me. Unfortunately I have not found Commodore Goode an easy man to work with. You will soon understand why when you meet him. He is expected at this parley at any moment.
I am married to
Lady Aphrodisia and I am a good
friend of Queen Anne of Britain. Like me, Queen Anne is also rather
slovenly. I think she was responsible for my appointment as Governor. It is
a very responsible position. For instance I am the only person with the key
to the fort armoury, where we have hundreds of weapons stored. |
