No.  All the merrymurder games that specify a range of people can be played with more people.  These games feature an Investigation Panel who assist the Chief Investigator in solving the crime.  These panels can be a variable number of people, so if you have an extra guest you can simply increase the size of the panel by one.

I use Investigation Panels to counter the problem of last minute cancellations by guests.  If you have a game that requires exactly ten characters, and then at short notice one of them cancels, then unless you can find a last minute replacement, the game cannot take place.  However if this happens in a merrymurder game, you can simply commandeer someone off the Investigation Panel to take their place.

Yes!  For a start members of the Investigation Panel get all the questions with which to interrogate the suspects.  To see how many investigator questions there are in a particular game, enter the website for that game.  Then click on “View Character Details” and select “Investigation Panel”.

The Investigation Panel will also be getting to open Clue Objects and Clue Documents that will help solve the case.

If the game features mystery witness roles, then members of the Investigation Panel will also be playing these characters.  Mystery witnesses turn up for one round only, usually to present unexpected evidence that will make the suspects squirm!  If there are mystery witnesses in a game, you will be able to see details about them in the “View Character Details” section.

Finally some of the games also have other items for the Investigation Panel to perform.  For instance in “Murder at the North Pole” the panel are responsible for performing all the scripts for the Festive Radio Broadcasts that are aired on Christmas Day.  In “Natural Porn Killers” the panel are responsible for all the “Wanda Whopper’s Web Components”.  In “The Merrymurder Pantocrime” they voice the rhyming couplet responses to questions asked of the Magic Mirror.  If you look at the “Investigation Panel” page of the “View Character Details” of the game you are interested in, you will find what the panel are responsible for.

The flowcharts are a unique feature to merrymurder games.  There is one flowchart for each round of the game.

Murder mystery games rely on people answering questions and responding to cues.  These are detailed in the character booklets and investigator question cards.  However experience has taught me that, particularly when the alcohol is flowing freely, some people might miss these cues.

The merrymurder flowcharts pictorially depict all the answer/question/action flows that happen in a particular round.  Therefore it is easy to keep track of who is due to speak, and, if people miss their cues, prompt them.  They also prevent people from revealing information before they should.

They are also colour coded.  For instance the first round of a game might be made up of four question and answer flows.  These flows would be coloured red, blue, green and yellow respectively.  The Investigator Questions that occur in each flow would have borders of the appropriate colour.  Similarly the responses in the Character Booklets would also have borders of the appropriate colour.  This means that you can announce "we are about to start the red section" and all players with red bordered items will be forewarned that their turn to speak is coming shortly.  And those players without red bordered items can sit back and listen, without having to worry that they are about to miss a cue.

I have also ensured that even if you print everything off in black and white, you can still use the colour coding.  Looking at the example flowchart should make everything clear.

Don’t worry.  For a start there is no physical contact or nudity!  And with regards to the sexual content, it is very much inferred rather than specific.  All three games are very much tongue in cheek.  However because they are set in a LA Porn studio, at the Pounda Porn Awards, and a Roman Orgy respectively, many of the story elements are of a sexual nature.  Eg. Being bitten during a blowjob and having to go for a tetanus injection, Cleopatra proving she is the queen of deep-throating, buying a penile enhancement cream off the internet that actually works, the Emperor Lustrous being enamoured with his lyre boy!  Because of this, I gave them an adult content rating of 10/10.

When writing these game I was also very sensitive to the concerns of female players.  Therefore you will find that the butt of the jokes are very much the male characters!
