Guests failing to show

Unless it is an emergency, failing to show without warning is just bad manners.  For some types of murder mystery games this can stop the party dead in its tracks.  But for merrymurder games this is not a problem.  This is because  all the merrymurder games (except "The Pungent Pumpkin Poisoner"), feature an Investigation Panel.  And this panel can be made up of a variable number of people.  So if a suspect character fails to show up, you simply "borrow" a member of the Investigation Panel to take their part.
